Index everything – not just photos

Most tools are designed around a narrow idea of what your data looks like: a photo library, a document folder, or a curated media collection.

Blitz Indexer takes a different approach. It indexes everything on your disks, regardless of file type, age, or origin, and makes it searchable as a single body of data.

One index for all file types

Blitz Indexer indexes a wide range of files, including:

  • Photos and images
  • Videos and audio files
  • Documents such as PDFs and Office files
  • Source code and plain text files
  • Archive formats such as ZIP and TAR
  • Arbitrary binary files, including executable code, databases, and other non-document formats

You don’t need separate tools for different kinds of data — all files are indexed together and can be searched and explored side by side.

Extracts whatever information makes sense

Blitz Indexer does not treat every file the same.

Instead, it automatically extracts and stores whatever information is meaningful for each file type, such as:

  • Embedded metadata (author, software, camera details, etc.)
  • Technical properties (size, dimensions, duration, format)
  • Document text for full-text searching
  • Compact previews or summaries that remain available even when the original file is offline

This allows very different kinds of files to be handled consistently, without forcing them into a single model.

Archives behave like folders

Files stored inside archive formats are often difficult to search or inspect.

Blitz Indexer can index the contents of common archive formats and present them as if they were normal folders. You can browse, search, and inspect files inside archives without permanently extracting them or reorganising your data.

No complex setup or configuration

Blitz Indexer is designed to work out of the box.

It automatically scans and indexes your home directory, your computer, and any removable storage as soon as it is mounted. There is no need to define file types, configure rules, or decide in advance how different data should be handled.

For each file it encounters, Blitz Indexer automatically does the right thing to summarise its contents and make it searchable.

Works with the way your files are already stored

Blitz Indexer works directly with files in ordinary folders on disk.

You don’t need to import data into a managed library, reorganise your directories, or adopt a new filing system. The application adapts to the structure you already have and builds a searchable index around it.

Everything means everything

By indexing all file types together — not just the ones that fit neatly into a specific category — Blitz Indexer provides a unified view across all your data.

Photos, documents, media, archives, executables, and forgotten files from years ago are all part of the same searchable whole.
